District Blossoms runs the Walt Whitman High School Club Water Polo team every Fall season in conjunction with a parent board. This unique high school club sport is open to ALL 9th-12th graders in the DMV area that do not have an affiliated high school water polo team. Strong swimming experience is required. Athletes must be able to comfortably swim 100 meters without stopping and tread water for at least 30 seconds.

The team competes with local high schools and travels to various tournaments throughout the season. Whitman has traditionally competed as one combined coed team, but as numbers and experience grow each season the team will try and compete as Varsity and JV teams and single gender if able.

The Whitman high school season takes place from August - November each year, with preseason starting a week before MCPS starts the school year. The season ends mid-November with an annual Alumni game the first Monday of Thanksgiving break.
